In grade 9 you will choose from several types of courses:
Academic courses focus on developing your knowledge and skills through the study of theory and abstract problems. These courses focus on the essential concepts of a subject and explore related concepts as well. These courses are required for university preparation and university/college preparation courses in grades 11 and 12.
Applied courses focus on the essential concepts of a subject, and develop your knowledge and skills through practical application and concrete examples. Familiar situations are used to illustrate ideas, and you will be given opportunities to experience hands-on applications of the concepts and theories you study. These courses lead to college preparation and apprenticeship and workplace preparation courses in grades 11 and 12.
